PURPOSE:To increase capacitance without scaling up size by using activated carbon treated at a low temperature as a polarizable electrode and employing an alkaline electrolyte as an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:An activated-carbon powder sintered body is used as a solid polarizable electrode. The adsorption of an acidic electrolyte and an alkaline electrolyte differs by an activation temperature or a heat treatment temperature after activation in activated carbon, and activated carbon activated at a low temperature or thermally treated excellently adsorbs the alkaline electrolyte. Consequently, the alkaline electrolyte such as KOH is employed and weight mol concentration is set within a specified range, thus acquiring an electric double layer capacitor, capacitance of which is increased by twice or more though internal resistance is made slightly larger than a case when an H2SO4 electrolyte is used. Accordingly, capacitance can be augmented without scaling up size. |
