A slot machine including display means (110) equipped with a display surface on a surface thereof facing a player, display control means (401) for controlling the display means (110) to display a stationary state and a state during execution of a game for each slot, start instruction means (108) for starting the display control means in response to a start instruction for a game, stop instruction means (109) for stopping the display control means in response to a stop instruction for prohibiting a change of patterns for each slot, and game control means (403) for controlling the progress of a game, wherein the slot machine further includes memory means (904) for storing a plurality of kinds of patterns and outputting data stored therein to the display means on the basis of the instruction of a read address, and background memory means (905) for storing a background for causing the display means to display a background, and wherein the display control means (401) gives instructions of output to the memory means and to the background memory means. Accordingly, the present invention can provide a slot machine which is impressive and interesting.
