An apparatus is disclosed for aligning and/or retaining pallets to be re-paired and/or pallet elements used in repairing pallets. The apparatus com-prises a base frame comprising at least one fixed lateral stop member an d at least one movable lateral stop member for each bottom deck board member and/or for each connecting block member of a pallet. The movable lateral sto p member is adapted to press the particular bottom deck board member and/or the assigned connecting block members against the cooperating fixed lateral stop member, such that the particular bottom deck board member and/or the connecting block members is/are aligned with reference to a line running per-pendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pallet and retained in that position. Preferably, a movable lateral stop member is assigned to each fixed lateral stop member.
