The heater has a liquid circuit (R1,R2) containing a first liquid for cooling a first heat source (E), a second heat source (16) for transferring heat to the first liquid with a second liquid and a rotor which can be coupled (51) to and decoupled from the first heat source. An agitator (18) transfers heat from the first liquid, and there is a temperature sensor (S1) for the first liquid. There is a rotor speed sensor (S2), and a first liquid temperature threshold memory and temperature sensor. The coupling (51) decouples the rotor from the drive to stop shearing of the second liquid when the first liquid temperature exceeds the threshold. A computer (71) computes a variable rotor speed threshold from the first liquid temperature. The coupling is disengaged as soon as the measured rotor speed exceeds the threshold.
