<p>An image correcting method and a digital image inputting device such as a digital camera or a video camera, wherein various aberrations of an image forming optical system and errors in the color conversion function of an image sensor are corrected for respective devices, by digital techniques, and a practically high-enough image quality is realized by means of a cheap, simple image forming optical system. An image representing a predetermined proofing figure is captured. Image correcting information for converting the image into an image to be present is derived for respective digital image inputting devices and stored in a device or system. After normal imaging, the image is converted to a correct one by using the image correcting information. The image correcting method comprises Fourier-transforming the picked-up image by using image correcting information for correcting the transfer function of an optical system to a design transfer function in a spatial frequency region, correcting the transformed image in a spatial frequency region, and forming a corrected image by inverse Fourier transform.</p> |
