PURPOSE: An apparatus for processing status information of an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) exchange is provided to separately configure a block for collecting status information of lower equipments and a block for collecting self status information of a local controller, to firstly select the self status information of the local controller when many alarms are simultaneously generated in the lower equipments, to transmit the self status information to a center controller, so as to prevent the center controller from abnormally misunderstanding the local controller when the alarms are generated in the lower equipments. CONSTITUTION: A status information collector(10) is composed of a controller status information collecting block(10a) and a lower equipment status information collecting block(10b). The controller status information collecting block(10a) collects self status information of a local controller. The lower equipment status information collecting block(10b) collects status information relating to lower equipments. A selection signal generator(20) generates a selection signal on the basis of the number of generated status information supplied from the status information collector within one cycle(10). A status information selector(30) selects output status information of the status information collector(10), on the basis of the selection signal. A status information processor(40) processes the output status information to report the processed status information to a center controller.
