<p>The present invention relates to compositions comprising the triterpenes, dihydrobutyrospermol, dihydrolupeol and/or dihydroparkeol, the composition being applicable as a pharmaceutical, a dietary supplement or as a cosmetic. Further, the invention relates to the use of such compositions for the preparation of a medicament, a dietary supplement or a cosmetic for immunomodulating in a mammal such as suppression of viral infections, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, hypersensitivity and/or inflammatory reactions. The triterpenes may be in form of the free alcohol or derivatised, preferably with cinnamic acid, acetic acid or fatty acids. Furthermore, the triterpenes may be an extract obtainable from a natural source or synthetically made.</p> |
