The invention relates to a device for separating substances by means of countercurrent washing that comprises a container with a first end area, on which a first inlet opening for admitting a substance mixture and a first outlet opening for discharging a substance constituent that is to be separated out of the substance mixture and for discharging a washing fluid are provided. Said container also has a second end area, which is located axially opposite the first end area, and on which a second inlet opening for admitting the washing fluid and a second outlet opening for discharging another substance constituent of the substance mixture and for discharging the washing fluid are provided. The container additionally comprises a displacement area, which is provided between the first end area and the second end area, whereby the displacement area transitions into the second end area with a transition cross-section. The inventive device is characterized in that a feeding device is arranged in the area of the transition cross-section for introducing the washing fluid in a two-dimensional manner and is connected in a conductive manner to the second inlet opening. The inventive device is also characterized in that at least one motion element is provided for the specific introduction of kinetic energy into the displacement area. The invention also relates to a method for separating substances by means of washing with a washing fluid.
