<p>A patch applicator (30) for easy application of a transdermal patch is disclosed, wherein the applicator is specially suitable for a small transermal patch of size 20 cm2 or less. The patch applicator (30) includes a rigid release liner (31) and a flexible transdermal patch (32) releasably attached to the release liner (31). The release liner (31) has a first and second portions (36a, 36b) separated by a slit (38), and pulltabs (33a, 33b) affixed to the portions (36a, 36b). The pulltabs (33a, 33b) can extend beyond an end margin of the transdermal patch (32), and preferably extend outwardly at an acute angle for use, so that the user may easily grasp the pulltabs (33a, 33b) and remove a first portion (36a) of the release liner (31) from the patch (32). The patch (32) is then applied to the skin or mucosa, followed by removal of the second portion (36b) and final application of the patch (32). The patch applicator reduces loss in manufacturing yield, and especially benefits the elderly population.</p> |
