The method involves generating a control signal (s) from an instantaneous desired torque (w) of the drive device (4) and a target torque (u) to be achieved after a defined period and controlling the drive device with the control signal to generate the torque. Partial control signals (s1,s2) derived from the desired torque and the target torque are combined to produce the control signal.
