PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel is provided to reduce the consumption power since it utilizes 1/2 sustain voltage source so as to supply the sustain voltage to the panel. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel includes a first energy recovery circuit and a second energy recovery circuit. The first energy recovery circuit is provided with a first inductor(L11) to form a first resonator together with a panel capacitor(Cp). The first resonator is equivalently formed on the discharge cell of the plasma display panel to supply the sustain pulse having a positive sustain voltage with connecting one of a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. The second energy recovery circuit is provided with a second inductor(L12) to form a second resonator together with a panel capacitor(Cp). The second resonator alternatively supplies the sustain pulse having a negative sustain voltage with connecting one of a scan electrode and a sustain electrode connected to the first energy recovery circuit.
