A portable terminal is provided to prevent system collapse through fast data recovery even if unpredictable power loss is generated when a file system stored in the portable terminal is generated by recovering original or duplicated system data when a system is rebooted. A data storage processor(271) selects a memory storing area for storing a system file as an original or duplicated copy, stores header information of the system file to a part of the selected memory storing area, and stores system data to the rest part. A data update processor(273) updates an original system file and a duplicated system file when the system file is updated. A data recovery processor(275) recovers the original or duplicated system data with the system data having the latest time information by comparing the original system file with the duplicated system file when the system is rebooted. The header information of the system file includes a system data storage area location number, a data storage state information, and data update time information.
