PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attaching/detaching device for an electromagnetic stirring device in a mold, by which the electromagnetic stirring device is attached and detached without dismounting a mold cooling box from the mold, which has a simple device constitution, and which does not require making the housing chamber of the mold cooling box, which houses the electromagnetic stirring device, larger than needed, and to provide an attaching/detaching method using the same device. SOLUTION: A mold cooling box 5 has an opening 5b, which is formed on its side wall opposite to molten steel, and through which an electromagnetic stirring device 1 can pass. By horizontally hanging the electromagnetic stirring device 1 with a hanging jig 2 for horizontally hanging an electromagnetic stirring device, and by horizontally moving the electromagnetic stirring device 1 with a moving device 3 for horizontally moving an electromagnetic stirring device, when attaching the device 1 to the inside of a housing chamber 5a of the mold cooling box 5 and detaching it from the chamber 5a through the opening 5b, the electromagnetic stirring device 1 is attached to and detached from the inside of the housing chamber 5a.
