An exhaust pipe system for a multi-cylinder gas and diesel engine is provided to perform connection and sealing firmly by a heat-resistant pipe coupling absorbing axial and radial movements. In an exhaust pipe system for a multi-cylinder gas and diesel engine, pipe portions(1,2) include pipe connection units(3,4) for a cylinder(30). External thermal insulating materials are supplied to the pipe portions. The pipe portions form a dual wall so that a pipe member(6) forms a longitudinal chamber(7) and is surrounded approximately coaxially with an external pipe member(12). The longitudinal chamber is cast by a ceramic foam. The pipe portions are connected to a heat-resistant pipe coupling or an axial compensator(11). The pipe coupling or the axial compensator allows the longitudinal chamber to be closed by thermal expansion.
