PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle movement type automatic lathe capable of driving a plurality of cutter devices by a simple constitution and control. SOLUTION: The automatic lathe is constituted by a spindle 30 directing an axis in a Z direction and moved in a Z axis direction to convey a work W; a Y slide 70; a Y axis motor 72 for moving the Y slide in a Y axis direction, i.e., a vertical direction; a turret device 50 arranged on the Y slide 70 and mounted with a plurality of tools for working the work; and a comb-tooth cutter device 60. The turret device 50 and the comb-tooth cutter device 60 are moved together by movement of the Y slide 70. The turret device 50 and the comb-tooth cutter device 60 are independently moved in an X direction. During working of the work by the comb-tooth cutter device 60, the turret device 50 previously divides the tool used in the subsequent step.
