PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to more remarkably shorten the applying/drying time of a parting agent than heretofore to shorten a working time, can cast a metallic mold with absolute minimumfilm thickness,can prevent the trouble caused by the film exfoliation due to the excessive film thickness of the coating film, and can obtain a cast product having good gloss without any facing cavity on the cast product. SOLUTION: The parting agent for casting the metallic mold contains: a composition (A) which contains 50-90 mass% of a solvent having 2-10 mm<SP>2</SP>/s kinetic viscosity at 40°C and in the range of 70-160°C flash point; and a component (B) which contains 1-10 mass% of at least one of white, gray or red inorganic powdery material and≥10 mass% of at least one of inorganic powdery material of graphite, carbon black or diamond powder.
