PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve display characteristics by securing uniformity of the membrane thickness of a functional layer in an electro-optical device such as an organic EL display device. SOLUTION: The electro-optical device having a pixel electrode 200 and barrier ribs 314 formed of two layers or more of material layers surrounding the peripheral edge part of the pixel electrode is equipped with voids 50 formed by first material layers 310 and second material layers 313 extending out in an eaves shape toward the center part of the pixel electrode 200 at the peripheral edge part.
