PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a power consumption, to suppress a temperature rise, and to improve an impact resistance. SOLUTION: A video signal output from a camera signal processing circuit 5 is compressed for each prescribed section using an encoder/decoder 9 and accumulated in a buffer memory 13, and an HDD 15 is switched to keep ready for recording operation for only a period required for recording the compressed data of each prescribed section accumulated in the buffer memory 13 on the HDD 15 to record the compressed data of each prescribed section accumulated in the buffer memory 13 on the HDD 15 and switched to keep recording operation paused for another period by means of an operation control means, so that the period of the recording operation that requires a high power consumption of the HDD 15 is shortened, thereby reducing the power consumption and temperature rise.
