Provided is a compound for the detection of a mercury compound, which has high selectivity with respect to a mercury compound and can simply detect the mercury compound. The present invention relates to a compound for the detection of a mercury compound; and to a manufacturing method thereof, and more specifically, to a compound for the detection of a mercury compound, which is represented by chemical formula 1; and to a manufacturing method thereof. In chemical formula 1, R1 to R2 are the same as specified in claim 1. The manufacturing method of the compound for the detection of a mercury compound comprises: a step of performing a reaction between a compound represented by chemical formula 2 and a compound represented by chemical formula 3 in an alcohol solvent.
