Disclosed are a ship gateway apparatus and a method for displaying state information by a ship gateway apparatus. The ship gateway apparatus includes: a network interface which provides an interface with an external network system; a data input unit which receives, from the network interface unit, data transmitted from the external network system; a network connection setting unit which sets a connection with the external network system; a data processing unit which processes data on the basis of connection setting information with the external network system set by the network connection setting unit; a data outputting unit which outputs the data processed by the data processing unit to the network interface unit; and a switching unit which transmits the data input to the data input unit, to the data processing unit, and transmits the data processed by the data processing unit to the data outputting unit. Therefore, the present invention may effectively maintain security of a system within a ship.
