PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber fusion-splicing method and fusion-splicing device, which allow for preventing a fusion-spliced section from breaking when taking a spliced optical fiber out of the fusion-splicing device.SOLUTION: A method of fusion-splicing optical fibers 100, 200 includes steps of; having the optical fibers 100, 200 held respectively by optical fiber holders 30, 35 mounted on a pair of movable stages 40A, 40B, respectively; moving the pair of movable stages 40A, 40B toward each other to bring ends of the optical fibers 100, 200 into contact with each other; fusion-splicing the optical fibers 100, 200 positioned face-to-face to form a fusion-spliced section S; performing a proof test by applying tension on the fusion-spliced section S by moving the pair of movable stages 40A, 40B away from each other; and moving the pair of movable stages 40A, 40B toward each other by a predetermined distance after completion of the proof test.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
