<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a gas phase process silica dispersion liquid ensuring high productivity and capable of obtaining a coating liquid for a color material receiving layer having good suitability to coating even if used immediately after dispersion, and to provide a recording material having good surface quality because of no crack in a color material receiving layer and excellent in gloss and color material absorbency by using a thus obtained gas phase process silica dispersion. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the gas phase process silica dispersion liquid by dispersing gas phase process silica in an aqueous dispersion medium in the presence of a cationic compound, an operation of raising the pH of the dispersion by ≥0.1 is carried out during or after manufacturing the dispersion. The operation of raising the pH of the gas phase process silica dispersion by ≥0.1 is preferably carried out by adding the salt of an acid whose pKa is ≥1.0 and an alkali metal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
