<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery in which input performance and output performance are balanced, input and output performance is high, energy density for providing high input and output performance is high, a life characteristic is high, and safety is high, and to provide an automobile using the lithium secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: In the lithium secondary battery having an electrode group comprising a positive electrode formed by coating a positive mix containing a positive active material, a negative electrode formed by coating a negative mix containing a negative active material, and a separator, and an electrolyte, the negative active material contains a carbon material in which an average particle size is 5-25 μm, specific surface area by a nitrogen gas adsorption BET process is 1.0-12 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and the negative electrode is formed by coating the carbon material corresponding to 0.005-0.05 m<SP>2</SP>/cm<SP>2</SP>per area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
