The invention relates to an apparatus for metering pourable or free-flowing material, having a collecting tank and a discharge device, in which apparatus the material is sucked in from a store tank in suction cycles by means of a suction fan and fed to the collecting tank and in which the material is discharged in a uniform flow out of the collecting tank by means of a discharge device and conveyed further to a processing station arranged downstream. A space-saving constructional unit is achieved according to the invention in that the fill height in the collecting tank is held at a specified level by means of a level-monitoring device and a control device of the suction fan, in that the suction fan is arranged on the collecting tank and is connected to the interior of the latter with its suction intake, and in that the collecting tank is provided, above the level monitored by the level-monitoring device, with a connection for a suction line leading to the store tank.
