Soluble, iron-containing polypeptide derivatives, their preparation and pharmaceutical uses.

Polypeptide derivatives containing 0.1 to 45% by weight of iron, which are highly soluble at neutral/basic pH and insoluble at acid pH, obtained by a) hydrolysis of succinylated proteins containing iron (FeSP), or b) interaction of succinylated peptides with iron salts (II or III). Said derivatives are very good iron carriers after by oral administration in mammals and show an extremely good tolerability.
