<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED unit in which heat radiation characteristics of an LED element can be improved, and provide an illumination device provided with this LED unit. <P>SOLUTION: This device is provided with a unit main body 2 having a reflecting face 13, a front plate 3 mounted on the unit main body 2 so as to cover the reflecting face 13, and having a light irradiation window 5 for radiating the light reflected on the reflecting face 13 toward the outside, and the LED element 7 installed on the face opposed to the reflecting face 13 of the front plate 3, and irradiating the light to the reflecting face 13.
