PURPOSE:To extend the range of the changeover of the gradation of the maximum number of colors, gradation of which can be expressed by a switch, when the maximum number of colors is changed over while preventing the sacrificing of resolution when the maximum number of colors indicated by the changeover is small in a printer device. CONSTITUTION:The number of dots allocated to one picture element 45 is changed over automatically in response to the changeover of the maximum number of colors (the number of gradations) capable of being expressed at the time of printing. Accordingly, the number of dots of 4X4 is allocated to one picture element at the time of 4913 colors having the large number of gradations while scanning lines 41-44 are thinned and gradations are expressed, and the range of the changeover of gradations is extended to a user. On the other hand, the number of dots of one picture element is changed over to the number of dots of 2X2 at the time of the small 125 colors of the number of gradation, and the deterioration of resolution is prevented. |
