PURPOSE: To provide a mechanism which executes the sequential access to shared external data to realize an operation on shared external data without requiring independent external references for first lock acquisition. CONSTITUTION: A list data structure is provided in a structured external storage(SES) processor 110 connected to a processor. Applications executed on the processor share data in the list data structure, and a mechanism which executes conditional commands in an SES is provided. Conditional operations of complicated data object operations confirm the assumption state of data objects before permitting other data object operations based on atomically executed predicate operations. State information is executed atomically also.
