PURPOSE:To obtain a new complex, useful as a catalyst for hydrosilylating reaction, having activities comparable to those of a platinum catalyst, etc., and comprising an inexpensive nonnoble metal. CONSTITUTION:This ruthenium carbonyl cluster complex has a structural unit of the formula (Ru)x(CO)y [(x) is 3-6; (y) is 3(x) to 4(x)] and a cluster size of >=0.4nm. The complex is obtained by reacting ruthenium chloride with pressurized carbon monoxide in the presence of cobalt acetate at (1:1) to (1:9) molar ratio of Ru:Co in methanol. |
