ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIFUNGAL CERAMIC AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To provide a ceramic material having high mechanical strength, formable to arbitrary forms, exhibiting excellent water-resistance and heat- resistance, scarcely coloring by baking and having durable antibacterial and antifungal activities. CONSTITUTION:This antibacterial and antifungal ceramic material is produced by supporting 0.1-5.0wt.% of silver and/or copper to a scarcely soluble orthophosphoric acid salt or scarcely soluble orthophosphoric acid double salt of one or more kinds of metals selected from alkaline-earth metal, zinc and aluminum and sintering the product at >=650 deg.C optionally after mixing with other ceramic material.
