PURPOSE:To obtain an effect enhancer for an insecticide, extremely increasing effects of a pyrethroid-based insecticide, exerting no bad influence on crops at all, comprising a specific polyhydric phenol derivative as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:This effect enhancer for an insecticide is obtained by adding a compound of formula I or formula II (R<1> is hydroxymethyl, acetyl or nitro; R<2> and R<3> are each H, a lower alkyl or a halogen) to a a pyrethroid-based insecticide. For example, 3,4-methylenedioxybenzyl alcohol, 3',4'- methylenedioxyacetophenone, 4-chloro-5-methylresorcinol, 3-chlorocatechol or chlorohydroquinone may be cited as the compound of formula I or formula II. Etofenprox is preferable as the pyrethroid-based insecticide. The compound of formula I or formula II provides anticipated effects even if the amount of the pyrethroid-based insecticide is reduced and further extremely raises insecticidal speed. Consequently, the effect enhancer shows safe and sufficiently practical effects. |
