PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a uniform sensitivity characteristic over the whole area of a radiation detector by improving the light condensing characteristic of a part having low photoconductivity by applying an optical fiber to the detector. SOLUTION: In an optical fiber utilizing radiation detector which is provided with a scintillator 1 that emits light through the interaction with the radiation radiated from the radioactivity of an object to be measured and a photomultiplier 2 that condenses the light emitted from the scintillator 1 and outputs optical signals after converting the signals into electric signals and detects the radiation from the output of the photomultiplier 2, an optical fiber 4 is provided closely to the part of the scintillator 1 which less transmits the light to the photomultiplier 2 and the end section of the fiber 4 is optically joined to the photomultiplier 2 so that both the light from the fiber 4 and the other light can be fetched to the light receiving surface of the photomultiplier 2.
