<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic system and method automatically and precisely detecting the boundary of an object from an ultrasonic image. <P>SOLUTION: This ultrasonic diagnostic system and method detects the edge on the ultrasonic image to form an edge extraction boundary candidate model, computes to simplify the edge extraction boundary candidate model to form a simplified boundary candidate model, computes to thin the line of the simplified boundary candidate model to form a thinned boundary candidate model, and detects the boundary of the object from the ultrasonic image using the edge extraction boundary candidate model, the simplified boundary candidate model and the thinned boundary candidate model. This method can reduce the labor and the time of a user by automatically detecting the boundary of the object from the ultrasonic image to prevent that the measurement results are different among users. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
