PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To place priority onto a telephone set connection procedure by a modem via a telephone network. SOLUTION: When a signal sent from a caller 1 through a telephone network 3 is a data signal, the telephone network 3 is connected to a data terminal 24 and when the signal is a voice signal, the telephone network 3 is connected to a telephone terminal 23 switchingly in this modem. In this case, the connection protocol of the modem 22 of the called party 2 has a step where voice ID code information is informed from a called party 2 to a caller 1 in the case of connecting the telephone network 3 in response to a call tone from the caller 1 and a step where it is discriminated that the caller 1 requests connection to a telephone terminal 23 of the called party 2 when the information corresponding to the ID code is returned from the caller 1 to the called party 2, and the changeover connection of the telephone terminal 23 to the telephone network 3 has precedence over other connection. |
