PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display the file name of data recorded in a recording medium on a real time basis. SOLUTION: Data of a file recorded in a PCMCIA card is read by a controller for PCMCIA 16 through an interface part for PCMCIA 15. Only index data displayed on a display 6 are selected by a media controller 19 and are outputted to CPU 11. CPU 11 displays inputted index data on the display 6 by controlling a liquid crystal controller 14. Index data displayed on the display 6 is scrolled up or down by user-controlled operation parts 7 and 8. A switch 21 detects that a PCMCIA card is inserted into a media viewer 1 and a power circuit 20 supplies power to the individual parts.
