PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically pick up only a surface flaw cut-out part of a steel member so as to roughen the surface thereof. SOLUTION: In a method of roughing the surface of a surface flaw cut-out part, circumferential and longitudinal data detected by a flaw detector and concerning a surface flaw on a steel member running in its longitudinal direction, are obtained, and the surface flaw is automatically or manually cut and removed by means of a flaw cut-out device. Thereafter, the surface of the surface flaw cut-out part is roughened. A surface roughening device is operated in accordance with the surface flaw data from the flaw detector and running speed data from a distance computing meter 8, and only the surface flaw cut-put part is automatically picked up during running of the steel member, and the surface thereof is roughened. |
