PURPOSE: A method for automatically upgrading new song data/system program of an accompaniment instrument is provided to upgrade new song data/system program of an accompaniment instrument with a saving pack more promptly and easily even through a user do not know a password. CONSTITUTION: A password is read out of a saving pack(200) when the saving pack is contacted with an accompaniment instrument through an inserting port. Upgrade sort value is read out of the saving pack if the password accords with a predetermined password in a data memory(120). New song data/system program is downloaded and saved in each data memory and system memory depending on if the upgrade sort value is one for new song data upgrade or system program upgrade. Therefore, data upgrade is performed and then a system is initialized to operate normally after upgrade.
