<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst which can significantly decrease a ratio of an unreacted material and an odor of a polymerization product caused thereby in a method for producing the catalyst used for adding ethylene oxide and other alkylene oxides to an active hydrogen-containing compound such as higher alcohols, alkyl phenols, fatty acids and alkylamines, and a method for producing an alkylene oxide adduct. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for a reaction for adding the alkylene oxide is provided by combining a metal alcoholate comprising at least one of a compound species shown by general formulas (1) to (3) and an acid compound of at least one selected from a group consisting of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, carbonic acid, formic acid, acetic acid, oxalic acid, tartaric acid, benzoic acid and p-toluenesulfonic acid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
