REAL TIME TYPE INTERNET FACSIMILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND GATEWAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a real time type Internet facsimile communication system where it is not required for a sender communication terminal to re-transmit image data even when communication is interrupted in a communication network existing on the way and to provide a gateway. SOLUTION: When communication in a public telephone network 50B is interrupted, the gateway 60B continues reception of a facsimile message from the gateway 60A, stores the received facsimile message to a hard disk drive 108, redials a destination facsimile terminal 20B and transmits the stored facsimile message to the terminal 20B. When the communication in the Internet 40 is interrupted, the gateway 60A continues the reception of the facsimile message from a sender facsimile terminal 20A, stores the received facsimile message to the hard disk drive 108, and transmits the stored facsimile message to the gateway 60B.
