PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing image data in which it is possible to use an image memory having a relatively low storage capacity corresponding to a data amount required as output image data regardless of a data amount (a data size) of input image data. SOLUTION: The output image data are generated by applying prescribed image processing to the input image data by dividing the prescribed image processing into first image processing and second image processing in the image data processing method. The method is provided with a writing process for writing the result of the first image processing in an image memory, a reading-out process for reading out the image data written in the image memory so as to apply the second image processing, and a control process for controlling so as to start the reading-out process when the image data with a data amount of enabling the start of the second image processing are stored in the image memory by monitoring the image data written in the image memory by the writing process.
