PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize increase in data even if shift stage is increased, and to suppress occurrence of shift shock as far as possible by quickly completing the shift in skip shift. SOLUTION: A control device for an automatic transmission comprises: a first friction element, which is released at a first shift stage, is engaged at a second shift stage after first transmission, and is released at a third shift stage after second transmission; a second friction element, which is engaged at the first shift stage, is released at the second shift stage, and is released at the third shift stage; and a third friction element, which is released at the first shift stage, is released at the second shift stage, and is engaged at the third shift stage. When the shift from the first shift stage to the third shift stage is determined, the second transmission is started while performing the first transmission, a hydraulic pressure command value in the first transmission is compared with a hydraulic command value in the second transmission, and a smaller one is selected as a hydraulic command value with respect to the first friction element.
