PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely control the direction and speed of an air current from a blowoff port of an air conditioner to provide the favorite air current and comfortableness of a person in a room by improving the position repeatability of arm parts and a vertical air direction changing blade. SOLUTION: The air conditioner 1 is provided with the air direction changing blade 3 for controlling a vertical air direction; a pair of arm parts 4 constituted to hold both end faces of the air direction changing blade; a first motor 7 and a second motor 8 for driving the arm parts and the air direction changing blade; a shaft output transmission mechanism 9 for the second motor, provided at one arm part; and an arm part drive mechanism 10 for driving the arm parts, and a turning limiting mechanism 11 for limiting turning of the air direction changing blade, provided at the other arm part. After moving the arm parts into the predetermined position at the operation start of the air conditioner 1, the air direction changing blade is operated until its turning is limited by the turning limiting mechanism. The mutual influence of fluctuation of the arm parts 4 and vertical air direction changing blade 3 is thereby eliminated to improve the position repeatability of the arm parts and vertical air direction changing blade.
