PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning device capable of bearing an external force applied to a work although the device is simple and compact. SOLUTION: Since the reverse surface of a table 10 elastically supported by a leaf spring 9 abuts against an abutting part 1a when an external force larger than a specified value is applied, so only the elastic force of the leaf spring 9 which is relatively small is applied to guides of stages 3, 6, and 8 and the abutting part 1a bears the majority of the external force applied from a holder H. Consequently, the guides of the stages 3, 6, and 8 may have small capacities and the constitution of the positioning device can be made simple and compact since the strength of a member in a force transmission path may be small.
