The method involves detecting a predefined monitoring device and receiving a predefined signal coming from the monitoring device, by a mobile terminal. Information included in the received signal is analyzed and an operating state of a monitored equipment is determined. A mobile terminal is set in silent mode if the determined state of the monitored equipment corresponds to an actuated state. An independent claim is also included for a system for setting silent mode of a mobile telephone terminal.
