METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING POWER FOR HEATING ROLLER AND PRESSURE ROLLER

A method and an apparatus for controlling power are provided to improve flicker characteristic and increase the surface temperatures of a heating roller and a press roller to a target temperature within a short period of time. A peak level of source power is gradually increased to a predetermined peak supply level and the source power is supplied to a first heating resistor as a first roller power(410). The surface temperature of a heating roller is measured and the source power is provided to the first heating resistor as the first roller power until the measured surface temperature of the heating roller reaches a predetermined target temperature(420). The surface temperature of the heating roller or a press roller is measured, the source power having a predetermined first level as a peak level is provided to the first heating resistor as the first roller power, and the source power having a predetermined second level as a peak level is supplied to a second heating resistor as a second roller power until the measured surface temperature reaches a predetermined target temperature(430). A toner image of given printing data is fixed onto a printing medium using the heating roller and the press roller(440). The first level is obtained by subtracting the second level from the peak supply level.
