PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser light source unit in which side lobe generated in the direction in which the large radiation angle of the light source is reduced when the light beam emitted from a semiconductor laser light source is made substantially parallel with a collimator lens. SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser light source unit includes: a semiconductor laser light source for emitting the light beam having a large radiation angle in one direction; the collimator lens for substantially collimating the light beam emitted from the light source; and a density distribution filter positioned at downstream of the collimator lens in a propagating direction of the light beam and having a density distribution such that a density gradually increases in the one direction from a center of an optical axis of the light beam that has passed through the collimator lens. The unit further includes a mechanism that rotates for adjustment the filter around the optical axis and tilts about an axis perpendicular to the optical axis and to one direction to reduce the diffracted light of the collimator lens to a predetermined value.
