PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit for a motor vehicle having a plurality of sets of planetary gears and motors and high power transmitting efficiency by enhancing mechanical power transmitting ratio. SOLUTION: The drive unit for a motor vehicle comprises the three sets 20, 30, 40 of planetary gears arranged between an input shaft 10 and an output shaft 12 and the three motors 52, 54, 56, so that an input member, a first output member, a second output member, a first reaction force member, and a second reaction force member are constituted of the rotary members of the first and second sets 20, 30 of planetary gears. The rotary member of the third set 40 of planetary gear is made to be a driving member, the second output member and a third reaction force member, the input shaft 10 and the input member, the output shaft 12 and the first output member, the second output member and the third output memberm, the first motor 52 and the first reaction force member, the second motor 54 and the second reaction force member, the third motor 56 and the driving member are coupled respectively, and the third reaction force member can be fixed to a case 60 and can be coupled to the first reaction force member.
