摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for thermally managing an engine, capable of reducing fuel consumption by reducing friction in the engine and capable of reducing engine oil consumption by increasing durability of engine oil. SOLUTION: A first coolant circuit 109 is disposed in an engine 101. A second coolant circuit 111 having heat exchangers 110, 116, a refrigerant pump 112, a temperature sensing means 115, and a valve means 117 is connected to the first coolant circuit 109. In the thermal management method of the engine 101, the refrigerant pump 112 is controlled such that a temperature Tin of a coolant supplied from the second coolant circuit 111 to the first coolant circuit 109 is lower than a temperature Tout of a coolant discharged from the first coolant circuit 109 to the second coolant circuit 111 by at least 10°C, and a refrigerant flow is generated with a coolant thereof having a temperature of more than 90°C at a cylinder head 106.
