A roulette wheel apparatus comprises a rotatable roulette wheel located in a wheel bowl and a ball launcher adapted to launch a roulette ball into the wheel bowl with a predetermined variable launch speed. The ball launcher comprising at least one rotatable element, e.g. a wheel 15, 16, adapted to accelerate a roulette ball in contact with it. The rotatable element may be further adapted to impart spin to the roulette ball. One two or three co-operating wheels may be used to launch the ball. A guide 12, 13 is preferably provided to guide the ball from the launcher into the wheel bowl, and the guide may include switching means 61 which is capable of changing the direction that the ball enters the bowl. The speed and spin of the ball may be varied between roulette games. |
