According to the present invention, a wireless transmission type light emitting diode (LED) electronic signboard system using a smart mobile terminal is disclosed, to easily and quickly change a character image displayed in the LED electronic signboard in a wireless transmission type by installing and executing an application program in a mobile terminal of a user. The system comprises: a wireless-fidelity (Wi-Fi) module receiving character image data generated in response to an application program of a user mobile terminal; a memory unit storing the character image data transmitted from the Wi-Fi module; a main controller controlling reading and output of the character image data stored in the memory unit; an LED driver amplifying voltage and current in response to a control signal read and output from the main controller; and an LED electronic signboard displaying a read character image in response to a driving signal received from the LED driver.
